Alice Finch, a Seattle mom of two, combined her love of Harry Potter with Lego to create this incredibly detailed, approximately 400,000-piece model of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. No magic required! It all started around 5 years ago when her eldest child was obsessed with Lego. They have a dedicated Lego building room, and Alice was spending a lot of time in there, watching her son play and helping him sort and tidy his bricks.
Disappointed with the mass-produced Lego Harry Potter sets, Alice was committed to creating an accurate model, and spent a significant amount of time researching the films and books to develop her design. She even went so far as to take the Harry Potter studio tour in London to get ideas.
Twelve months later, the final result is an enormous, three-dimensional, architecturally accurate and completely playable castle with moving parts, sans glue. There are Harry Potter themed Lego sets out there, but Alice wanted to create something igger and more realistic, and she certainly succeeded! She even decked out the interior of the castle, creating scenes with students taking part in lessons and going about day to day school life. She also created Wizard Chess sets, moving portraits, and much more. Amazing!!!
